October 06, 2024. 37th America’s Cup -Puig Women’s America’s Cup, Race Day 2 – Group B. Sail Team BCN Women

After a successful campaign in the youth and first ever women’s Americas Cup, Sail Team BCN confirms their intent to compete in the next edition of the competition.

Sail Team BCN has been the only team without their own AC40 that reached both the youth and women’s semifinals of the competition, in which they have finished in sixth and third position respectively. The great lessons learned in the simulator and the enormous synergies generated between both teams have served to achieve a historic result, which has led Stewart Hosford, CEO of Sail Team BCN, to make the decision to continue the project for the 38th edition.

Over the past 15 months Sail Team BCN have built solid foundations and are ready to take the next step in building a long term program leading to the next America’s Cup, to continue to develop the future of Spanish youth and women’s sailing.

Silvia Mas, skipper of Sail Team BCN women’s team said, “the first ever women’s America’s Cup has been a huge success for women’s sport and for women’s sailing. Both Sail Team BCN’s youth and women’s teams have achieved amazing results and we have huge potential for the future. We are excited about what we could achieve with a longer project and greater resources and we are looking forward to the next edition”.

The team is actively working on securing the necessary support and funding required to ensure the future of the project, with the first step to purchase an AC40, the foiling monohull on which the sailors compete at speeds of up to 46knots.
